Avalon, the legendary land
The isle of apple-trees and mist
Avalon is the land of elves
Where the hero comes today
Under the rule of the new king
flourishes and grows beautiful this country
The secret fate (destiny) of the king lies
yet in the hands of God
The cruel treason of confidential men
The cowardly treason of beloved men
And the terrible fight, that deadly fight
Oh,  how many brave warriors fell
Go, fight and perish by honourable death
In that last battle the hero will fall
And soon will come hosts of ghosts (spectres)
The evening darkness will cover (involve) everything
The black night will descend
